Retro: It's a Girl!!

2026 Intro:

A couple thoughts. I don't believe any of the things that I thought about when I heard we were having a girl actually happened. I wasn't an attentive Dad. I would always tell Liberty 'I will later', 'Not right now', etc. when she asked me to play. I'll forever feel bad about the way she always wanted my attention, and I didn't give it to her. I didn't flat out ignore her, but I definitely could have been a better Dad.

Next is the due date. I always paid attention to the due date from the time they gave us one. It moved all the time, but after the visit I talk about in this blog, it was the closest to the actual birth date they gave us. July 2nd. India DID go into labor on the 2nd, but Liberty was born about 26 hours later on the 3rd.

And yes, we had Liberty's name picked out this early. It EASILY could have been Isabella Sarai, Phoebe Sarai, or even Samara Jean. Wendilynn was on the table at one point (combining my Mother and Aunt's names), but that one didn't have much of a chance against the others.

Original Post:

Well, it's been 60 days since my last post, and since then, we've had a couple doctors visits, which consisted of Dr. Boles coming in, listening to the heartbeat, and leaving.  We also got a third ultrasound on February 22nd, which we thought was 20 weeks/5 days, but the baby ended up measuring to be 21 weeks/3 days.

At the ultrasound, we finally found out we're having a GIRL!!!  The tech asked if we wanted to know, and a few minutes later, she said 'It looks like you're having a girl'.  The tech didn't seem that friendly, as she didn't talk much, but she did try to show us the head, we saw the spine and ribs, legs, and could've seen the face, but apparently the baby had its hands in front of it.

She didn't give us too much definitive evidence to prove to us it's a girl, but that's what we're going on.  We're wanting to get a 3D/4D ultrasound, and have an appointment for one this Thursday, but may cancel it.  If we don't, we'll hopefully have a great picture/s of the baby.

Some of the first thoughts that went through my mind: Tea Parties, playing dress-up, 'Daddy, can I have $20', and my least favorite, BOYS.  That's right.  Boys.  That's the thing that I look forward to the least.  Slumber parties, make-up, etc.  Girls have so much that come with them.  But...I wouldn't trade it for anything.  I can't wait.

The other day, we went to Toys-R-Us to buy $50 worth of baby clothes, then today, India got a bunch of clothes from work.  We have a lot of clothes, as well as some shoes and other clothes that one of the daughter's of a woman who works with India gave us.

So, the due date is now moved up from July 7th to July 2nd.  So it's going to be close to June 29th (my Mom's birthday), or July 4th (Independance Day).  We'll just have to wait and see.  And of course, we already are 95% sure the baby's name is going to be 'Liberty Sarai Rogers'.

Until next time...
