Retro: Libbs is a Kickin'

2026 Intro:

Sometimes I forget that there was a time that me and India loved each other. Genuine (most of the time) love. There's some of that in this post from the Spring of 2010. It was a great call switching to a midwife practice. I think it helped a lot during the delivery (that's coming up soon, and it's worth a read for sure).

As for that last sentence? Fifteen years after I wrote this, I would be proven wrong. One of the few times I've been happy to be proven wrong.

Original Post:

First and foremost, at exactly 25 weeks, which was this past Friday, I felt our baby kicking for the first time in India's pregnancy.  I've been wanting to feel her kick since India felt her about 2 or 3 weeks ago.  Every time I put my hand on her, India always kept saying 'You feel that?', and I never did.

But Friday afternoon, while I was at work with her, she called me into her office and told me to feel.  Then I felt her kick two times.  It was an awesome feeling.  Finally, it feels real to ME.  India said later that seeing my reaction to feeling her kick for the first time almost made her cry because it was such a special moment.

Recently, we decided to change doctors from Dr. Brent Boles to a Midwife in Nashville.  Granted, there are about 9 midwives at the practice, so we probably won't have a single midwife at every appointment and the birth.  It still doesn't matter, because from what I have heard, midwives give you more leniency, only force you to do something if there's something wrong, and are there to let everything just 'happen'.  I need to read more about them, but I think it will be better for us.

India keeps telling me she can feel whether Liberty is kicking, stretching, about to stretch, or sleeping.  That's just crazy to think she can feel all that.  It just hypes me up for the near future.

Also, we have been buying clothes like crazy from yard sales & Toys-R-Us, as well as a few people giving us some.  We have a small wardrobe for Liberty, including a few very cute dresses for when she's a pre-schooler.

AND, India's starting to SHOW!!!!  That's right, when you look at her stomach now, you can tell she's pregnant.  And it's hard, too.

One other note: Since I am my Mom's only Grandchild, this will be her first Great-Grandchild.  That's kind of awesome.

Until next time...
